The Wright News
TSA National Competition
A.G. Wright sent 12 outstanding individuals that qualified at our state competition and advanced to the National Technology Student Association Conference held in Washington, D.C. It was a five day competition where our students competed against over 6,800 students from all fifty states and a few other countries. As the competition moved forward I became thrilled that all 12 of our students advanced to the semifinals in their respective events. During the semifinal round our students had to conduct an interview in front a panel of judges to advance to the finals. During the awards ceremony on the final day, our Tigers yet again surprised everyone in that every student had advanced to be recognized as national finalists in their events. But here's the kicker. All 12 of our AGW Tigers were top three trophy winners in their respective events.

On top of their outstanding work. We also had some individuals recognized for outstanding achievement. Sky Summers and our AGW alumni Logan Olson received the TSA Gold Achievement Award for community service and were recognized in front of everyone. Furthermore, Sky Summers and Amanda Wyche were recognized as the only members from Virginia, both middle and high school, to be inducted into the TSA Technology Honor Society.

Curt Southwick, for whom our library is named, was one of our beloved teachers who was taken from us way too early.  Mrs. Southwick helped me put together this biography of him so that all of our students can know what a great guy he was.
